{{ AISLING josephine KENAN }}
{{ hello I love you, won't you tell me your name? }}
Name: Aisling Josephine Kenan
Name Pronunciation: ASH-ling JOH-sa-feen KEE-nan
Nicknames: Ash
Birthday: 27th of May, 1986
Zodiac: Gemini
{{ get your head in the game }}
Blood Type: She is a half-blood. Her mother was a muggleborn, and her father a half-blood.
Team: The Irish Sidhe
Position: Chaser
Years on Team: This is her second year on the team. During her Hogwarts years she was a chaser on the Ravenclaw house team from her 3rd year onwards, she joined a quidditch team that had scouted her from her seventh year games and played for them in the Irish national competition for two years. She then took a year off of playing before trying out for the Sidhe.
{{ the prettiest girl in the whole wide world }}
Celebrity Face: Hilarie Burton
Hair: She has thick, curly blond hair, cut in messy layers that fall to just below her shoulders. She usually wears it out, or with certain pieces pinned back, she hardly ever ties it up except for when she’s playing qudditch, and even then it is often let free. She hates it straight. She has tried the odd straightening spell to see how it would work, but she has never liked the effect.
Eyes: She has light, hazel-green eyes that are basically the window to her soul. Her eyes betray all of her emotions, whether they are sparkling with wit and humour, or blazing with anger, it’s something that Aisling has never been able to help
Height: 5’5
Body Shape: As well as playing quidditch, she has a rigorous fitness regime, that keeps her body fit and toned. She refuses to have a scrap of excess fat on her body, but she can’t help her natural curves that annoy her sometimes when she’s trying to play (they’re not very aerodynamic) as much as they please her when she dresses up to go out.
Clothing: Aisling loves boots. They are her passion. So that is what most of her shoes are, except for the odd pair of converse, or sandals and a pair of thongs for summer. She will wear her boots as much as she can, but the converse usually get worn a lot more, as they have the potential to go with much more everyday outfits and she really can’t be bothered piecing together an outfit every time she wants to leave the house.
Everyday wear for Aisling consists of snug jeans and shorter, pleated skirts. What shoes she will wear will depend on the type of top, weather it’s a nice, dressy sweater, a casual blouse with a stylish vest, or a cute t-shirt. Her method with clothes is that she only buys what she really likes, so that she’s never digging through all of her clothes complaining that she has nothing to wear.
She doesn’t really like dresses all that much, unless it’s a costume party or something that she’s really expected to dress up for, in which case she doesn’t mind. She just doesn’t like them for everyday wear. She does have a collection of tighter, silky tops that she pairs with her sleeker skirts, and longer boots when she wants to dress up to go clubbing.
Other: Aisling isn’t deathly pale, but there’s no way that she would be considered tanned. She simply doesn’t tan easily. She doesn’t get freckles either. She just burns, so she has to be careful. The only piercings that she has are her earlobes, nothing interesting there, but she does have a tattoo. There’s a small Celtic sun on her lower, left shoulder blade. Scars are something that she has plenty of, quidditch isn’t the gentlest sport, but most of them are small, barley noticeable. The only bigger one is on her right forearm, where she broke the bone years ago.
When it comes to jewellery and makeup, Aisling’s style is simple, yet effective. She has naturally smooth skin, so she rarely has to worry about foundation, unless she’s having a particularly bad time skin wise. Unless she’s getting dressed up for a special event, or going out clubbing, she will stick to simple eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss. Sometimes she will forgo jewellery all together, but often she will wear a simple pair of earrings, depending on her mood. She has an aversion to necklaces, she’s never liked the feel of them.
Her voice is about mid range for a woman’s. If it was on one side of the scale of the other, I would be slightly lower than average. She is very thankful that she doesn’t have an annoying squeaky voice, but she has still never liked the way she sounds on recordings. She has a rather strong Irish lilt to her words, an obvious consequence of having lived in Ireland since she was born.
{{ and now I know who you are }}
Overall Personality: Aisling loves to have intelligent conversations, not necessarily the long, in-depth ones that take forever and leave you feeling drained, but also witty banter that’s fun to partake in as well as listen to. She will have a sharp retort for just about every comment that is thrown at her, but sometimes comes off as a bit sarcastic or harsh. You can’t afford to take everything that she says to heart.
A challenge is what she lives for. She has a competitive streak about a mile wide and it’s very difficult to get her to back down from anything, especially since most of the time she says that she will do something she is willing to go through with it, no matter how much she doesn’t want to. This is when her reckless side tends to show through. Aisling is a girl who knows what she wants, or at least she always wants to know what she wants. So, with a goal in mind, she’ll devise a strategy, or if she’s thinking on her feet, an idea of one, a run with it, regardless of the risk. Some people think that this makes her careless, but really, she trusts her instincts and what she thinks is going to be best. One thing that she never dose in whatever stunts she pulls is involve other people. On the quidditch pitch, she’ll never put a team mate in danger, in her life, she’ll never drag someone into her schemes who aren’t completely willing.
She is a very loyal person. She believes that friendship needs trust and that trust is important. She will never intentionally hurt one of her friends, in fact she will do everything in her power to stop them from being hurt. This is just the way that she thinks things should be; the way that things should work. She expects the same thing from her friends in return. She does some pretty crazy things sometimes and she just likes to know that her friends will be there for her.
Aisling has a lot of idealistic principles. For some people this could mean that they are optimistic, but for her it’s nearly the opposite. In her mind the ideals that she has are just that, the ideal way that thing should be and because she knows that things aren’t at all like that most of the times, and probably never will be, she sometimes comes of a slightly cynical.
Focusing is something that Aisling is very good at. She will put her mind to something and not give up or be distracted until she has answered the problem, mastered the skill, done whatever she needs to do. The thing is that, once she has mastered the skill or solved the problem, she gets bored. quidditch is the only thing that she doesn’t get bored with. The battle is never over. You have to keep in shape, learn new manoeuvres, and beat different teams.
Strengths:\\ Confidence in herself is something that Aisling does not lack. She’s not overly self-conscious and is not over being silly sometimes and letting loose, having a bit of fun. She doesn’t take herself too seriously
\\ Aisling is very smart. She likes knowing things, or being the first person to work something out, and she often is. She is an excellent strategist and also very quick at it. She can work out the basics of a strategy in seconds.
\\ Learning is one of the things that she is great at, and she loves it. Trying out new things is one of her favourite things to do, and she is constantly absorbing new information.
\\ Aisling is exceedingly loyal. She likes to be able to trust her friends one hundred percent, and in return they can expect the same. That’s not to say she wont joke around and tease them every once in a while, but whenever it really matters, she’ll be there.
\\ Once Aisling is focused on solving a problem, there is very little that will distract her. She is very strong willed and stubborn and will keep at it until she has worked it out.
Weaknesses:// She can be unintentionally biting in her retorts, especially if the person who she is talking to is a bit dull-witted. It doesn’t mean anything, she just really has to watch what she says sometimes. This often comes out more when she’s tired or frustrated. The snappy, sarcastic comments can get her in trouble.
// She’s exceedingly reckless. It’s almost as though she has no thought for her own safety, but then again, most of her stunts are very well thought out, not that anyone else realises. As effective as her methods can be, she knows that there are more prudent ways to get things done, but she just can’t seem to help it.
// Aisling is not all that good at being discreet when it comes to strong emotions. She can’t hide them. If she’s mad at you, you’re going to find out very quickly, and if she’s had a really goof night, she’s going to come into practice whistling the next morning.
//Quidditch is one of the only things in her life that Aisling has no trouble committing to. She swaps and changes hobbies so much that her family doesn’t even bother to keep track anymore. As soon as she has figured everything out and knows how it works, she’ll get bored. Unfortunately, this inability to commit also carries over into her love life, especially since she’s joined the international team, she’s had trouble holding down a boyfriend.
// Aisling is a terrible liar. She’s just really bad at it.
Likes:+ If there is one thing that will get her going, it’s a challenge. She loves them and once a challenge is issued, she will rarely ever back down.
+ When smart, charming, handsome men flirt with her, it just makes her day.
+ She loves the thrill of taking chances or risks, especially if they pay off.
+ She needs to have friends who she can joke around with, but more importantly, trust. This is a key part of being able to relax for Aisling. She likes being able to just be herself and not have to watch what she says.
+ She loves autumn. It’s her favourite time of year and she thinks that the coloured leaves are brilliant and enchanting.
Dislikes:- She thinks that romance novels are the bane of the world. Her sister is obsessed and has forced many unwanted ‘toe curling tales’ on her over the years.
- Aisling really hates mosquitoes.She actually has an aversion to all things that suck her blood, she finds it quite disturbing. Mosquitoes however, are the most common for her as she just happens to be one of those people who mosquitoes love.
- There’s nothing to make a girl depressed like idiots trying to chat her up. She finds them stupid and annoying, and they thoroughly piss her off.
- She finds it really awkward and boring when she has to pretend to like and be interested in dull conversations.
- She hates it when people tell her to be careful, when they know that it’s against her nature. It’s not like she does stupid things, they’re just not always safe.
- Squeaky voices make Aisling cringe. In her mind, there is nothing worse than high-pitched whining.
Favorite Color: Her favourite colour would have to be green, but never the really bright shades, and never with red, unless it’s Christmas.
Favorite Food: She is addicted to two foods, well, more so than others. She loves vermicelli noodle salads. Her friend introduced her to it back in school and she has never looked back. Unfortunately, it’s not on most menus. The other thing is berry smoothies, and that is more of a drink than a food. This is easier her Aisling to get her hands on, but she hates it when they’re made on ice cream. It has to be yogurt.
Least Favorite Food: Aisling can’t stand beetroot. She absolutely hates it, whether it’s tinned or fresh.
{{ and let me love you baby }}
Sexuality: She’s done enough experimenting at drunken parties to know that she is straight.
Loves:>> Aisling likes guys with a great sense of humour. If they don’t know how to have fun, then she’s not exactly going to have fun, so if a guy is funny and knows how to have a good time, then that’s defiantly good.
>> Hair is an important thing for Aisling. If a guy has sexy hair, then that’s a big, big positive.
>> A confident guy is always good. If a guy can stand up for himself and not be a pushover, it’s definitely better.
Hates:<< Stupidity. This is a big one for Aisling. She is a rather smart cookie and hates it when guys are completely clueless.
<< Who wants to run their hands through greasy hair? Not this girl. She doesn’t mind a little bit of gel, but when it looks or feels like a guy hasn’t taken a shower in weeks, she gets a little grossed out. Plus when they smell, it’s just bad.
<< Aisling absolutely hates it when guys don’t pay any attention to her when they’re on a date. When they expect her to just sit there and look pretty.
{{ another turning point, a fork stuck in the road }}
Hometown: Aisling grew up in a small cottage just outside of Cork in the south of Ireland. She went to school at Hogwarts, then when she was signed to a minor quidditch team, she rented an apartment in Wexford the main city near where the team trained. She took to city life naturally and has never looked back. She now lives in Dublin.
Family:Cecelia Boroughs: Cecelia is Aisling’s sister. She is 26 and was married about a year ago to Jonathan Boroughs, her high school sweetheart who is now a manager for the wizarding catering company that Cecelia runs, designing the decorations and deciding on the menus. Cecelia and Aisling have always gotten along, despite the four year age gap. Cecelia has always known not to take any of her sister’s sarcastic comments to heart, and Aisling just rolls her eyes at the older woman’s continuous optimistic romanticism. Though their personalities are vastly different, the two women are clearly related. The main differences are that Cecelia’s hair is a few shades lighter than Aisling's, quite a bit longer and not as curly, her eyes a darker, more brownish hazel and her curves much more voluptuous. Aisling has always called her Cece
Brady Kenan: Brady is Aisling’s father. He lives with her mother in the cottage that Aisling and Cecelia grew up in. 57 years old; he works as specialised clockmaker, working out of a shed at the back of the home. Brady is the parent that Aisling has always gotten along best with. His gentle, yet intelligent nature is the perfect balance for Aisling’s recklessness, and she’s always been very close to him. Brady is the source of Aisling’s curly hair, though his hair is a dark brown that neither of the sisters have. Aisling also inherited his fair skin, though he has many more freckles than she does.
Tessa Kenan: Tessa is Aisling’s mother and she is continuously getting into fights with her. They both have the same sharp tongue and both refuse to back down. This has resulted in terrible fights over the years, but they both still love each other. Tessa has straight, blonde hair that she keeps cropped around her face, and is fairly tanned. Aisling gets her eyes from her mother, they have always looked fairly similar, though Tessa is a tiny woman and Aisling is a few inches taller than her.
History: Brady fist met Tessa in his second year out of school. He had just started as an apprentice for her father, learning how to make specialised wizarding clocks. They fell in love slowly and by the time they both realised quite a few years later, Brady had finished his apprenticeship and was leaving to open up his own small business. After getting her father’s permission (not that it would have stopped her from going if she hadn’t gotten it) she went with him and a year later they married.
Aisling was their second child, after Cecelia, who was four at the time and was thrilled to have a little sister to play with, though as Aisling got older, her sister was quite put out that she didn’t like the same kinds of toys as she did. Even as a baby, Aisling was talkative, constantly gurgling and laughing to herself. As she got older, her favourite pastime was to escape for her mother’s watchful eye to go and play in the large garden behind their cottage.
At the age of nine, her father took her to see her first qudditch game and she fell in love. She was fascinated by the fast, extraordinarily complex manoeuvres, the constant action and the excitement of it all. For her next birthday she received a broom which she practiced on constantly, flying over the vacant fields behind her house, though she was always careful to stay within sight of her parents, for she knew that her broom would be the first thing to be confiscated if she made them mad.
She was shipped off to Hogwarts the next year, the same school that her mother had attended and the one that Cecelia had been at for the past four years. She was quickly sorted into Ravenclaw and on her first night in the castle she got into a fight with a trouble making English girl, named Eleanor Davidson, who had the bed next to her. They promptly became best friends and together got into countless fights and pulled many ingenious pranks. They were rarely caught.
Academically, school was a breeze for Aisling. She was able to maintain consistently high results through a combination of natural intelligence and hard work. She was known to trick her friends into doing extra hours of study, which they always needed. Her ability to focus helped her absorb information quickly and she was quite dedicated to her studies, but not as quite as dedicated as she was to quidditch. It wasn’t until her third year at school that she made it onto her house’s quidditch team and feeling what it was like to be on an actual team only made her love for the sport grow and she quickly became the team’s star player. In her later years she was made Quidditch Capitan for Ravenclaw house.
She was spotted by a quidditch scout during her seventh year and when they offered her a place on the Wexford Warriors, she was ecstatic. She moved out of home and rented an apartment in Wexford. Her parents were slightly worried that she was too young to be living on her own, but she assured them that she would be okay. During her time on the team, she learnt a lot from the more experienced players, as well as the coaches and had a great time while she was developing herself as a player, but after two years she had a small dispute with the assistant coach which escalated and eventually ended with Aisling quitting the team.
She spent a year living with Eleanor, who was still her best friend, in London but found that she missed Ireland, but more importantly, she missed quidditch. Eleanor was encouraged her to go back and try for another team, as did her dad in the owls that he sent her. When she found out that the Irish Sidhe was holding tryouts, she jumped at the opportunity, knowing that, even if she didn’t get in, it was a great experience. During the time that she had taken off, she had slightly lost confidence in her playing ability, but after a few practices with a few of her old school friends before the tryouts, she rediscovered what she knew she could do.
When she found out that she had made the team, Aisling was shocked. Her parents were overjoyed and once she came to terms with what had happened she was too. This is now her second year on the team, and the higher league, the more pressure that is put on her now has done wonders for her game.
