Welcome

During the many years that it has existed, Quidditch has fascinated witches and wizards alike. Whether they enjoy taking part in the rough and brutal sport or simply enjoy watching it from the comfort and security of the stands, it is a sport that is loved on both the national and international stages. The international stage is by far the grandest though and the International Quidditch League has devoted themselves to making sure that it remains as such.

The Quidditch World Cup consists of two different parts. The first part is just standard league play where all of the teams play against each other and their records will control their position in the standings. The second part is the finals where the top teams from league play will compete against each other for the coveted World Cup and the prestige of being the best team around.

The 2008 - 2009 season is just about to get underway and the teams that seem to be stirring up the most interest at the moment are the Irish Sidhe, the Japanese Kamitsu, the Spanish Snidgets, and the USA Foundry. Who will come out on top at the end of the season? There is no way of knowing until it is over but that is half the fun is it not?

(October 2nd, 2008 8:00am)

Logan walked onto the quidditch pitch with his custom made broom and practice uniform. He stretched out a bit and yawned. It was incredibly early that morning, and Logan was not a morning person. He had woken up anyways though, for the love of the sport and his team.

The team captain popped a few pain killers into his mouth and drank his first swig of water from his magically refillable water bottle. His head was pounding from the drinking he had done the night before and there was no way he was going to get a good practice in without a couple of aspirin first.

"Damnit, where is everyone?" He muttered to himself as he looked around the stadium and pitch. He was the first player to arrive, which wasn't normal by any means. Everyone had probably gotten quite drunk the night before, but that wasn't a good excuse for being late. He was there, wasn't he.

Murphy strolled onto the pitch, holding loosely onto his broom, while his other hand gripped a warm cup of coffee. He had been up for about an hour, and instead of arriving much earlier than the rest of his hung over teammates, he had chosen to go get some breakfast. He saw Logan and raised is cup in a wave, then lifted the drink to his lips. When he finally reached the captain he gave him a smile and set his broom down, leaning the handle against his leg.

"Mornin' Logan." He nodded at him, pushing a bit of his wild hair from his eyes. He looked quite comfortable in his uniform, his gloves hanging out of his pocket. He noticed how tired Logan looked, and he assumed it had been a long night for the man. If he was the kind of guy to be an ass, he would scream in his ear or something of the sort. Sure, it was the Logan's fault he felt like shit, so Murphy couldn't feel too bad about it.

"Ye gonna make it today?" He teased slightly, shifting all his weight onto his right leg.

Blake yawned slightly as she made her way onto the Quidditch Pitch for the team practice. She was so not a morning person normally but she had gone out with some of her friends from her last Quidditch team the previous night and though she hadn’t really gotten drunk, she also hadn’t really gotten home before the sun came up. That of course meant that she hadn’t even been to bed yet that night since there just wasn’t enough time to sleep... or at least not enough time to sleep and not feel like crap because of it. She had enough time though to make enough coffee to keep her awake until the practice actually started though.

When she entered the Pitch, she noticed that Logan and Murphy were already there. ”Mornin’...” she muttered slightly as her attempt at a greeting though she wasn’t really up to anything that might have a bit more enthusiasm to it at this point. She was wearing her practice uniform and had everything with that she would need to use, but she definitely looked a bit worse off than Logan did at the moment and unlike him, she wasn’t even hungover. She would be fine though once practice actually got going. It would wake her up a bit... hopefully.

The fact that she had a rather large cup of coffee with her helped a lot too. She didn’t really feel the need to say anything else at the moment as they all stood there since she wasn’t really up to thinking much, Logan didn’t look all that better off than she felt, and Murphy seemed to be teasing Logan about his state. So instead, she just stood there and drank the amazing, warm, dark liquid in her cup and tried to wake up enough to at least function before the practice started.

Logan bent down over the box of practice balls that was jiggling about a bit because of the contents inside. He looked up the moment he heard Murphy's voice and nodded. "Mornin' Boyou." He listened to the man and and raised an eyebrow, assuming that he might be mocking him a bit. The Irishman, if you could call him that, wasn't ever in for a real Irish celebration. It made the team captain really wonder whether he was Irish or not. "Nah, I'll be fine. I'm every morning after a celebration, aren't I?" He probably couldn't hold his own against a drink. That must be it.

Logan nodded again when he saw Blake onto the pitch. He pointed to fingers and have a half wave. "Mornin' Blake." The team captain's eyes fell on the coffee that his fellow players were carrying and sighed loudly. "I knew I fergot somethin'" He took his wand out of his sleeve and flicked his wrist, conjuring up a thermal mug of perfectly brewed coffee. "Thanks for remindin' me... now where is everyone else? Sleepin' in or Sleepin' around?"

Aisling strolled onto the pitch, fighting away the urge to go home and crawl into bed. She’d had a late night last night and had not woken up in her own place. Luckily, she’d been spared the worst of her hangover, as she hadn’t met up with her friends until quite late and she had spent most of the night dancing, forgoing the chance to get properly smashed.

She had, however, gone home with her friend Bradley. They had tried the whole dating thing a while ago, but it just hadn’t worked so they had kept in touch as friends. Aisling supposed that it was more friends with benefits, but she wasn’t exactly in the state of mind for analysing relationships at that particular moment, actually the only thing that she was really in the state of mind to do was to go back to bed... or maybe play some quidditch.

She knew that she was kind of late, but she would have been much later if it hadn’t been for her mum calling her half an hour ago, waking her from her slumber. She’d managed to get her butt out of bed and down to the quidditch pitch in half an hour, with the help of a large cup of coffee. Aisling was quite proud of herself.

She spotted the team and made her way over to them, walking up from behind Logan as he asked where the team was and their sleeping habits. She stopped a little way to his side and shrugged. “Either. Both.” She suggested cheekily, eyeing the other players’ cups of coffee. It was too bad that she had already had a cup. Two cups in under an hour was not a good thing for Aisling, unless she wanted to go completely psycho.

“Hey.” She said as a way of greeting as she held back a yawn.

Murphy smiled slightly when Blake approached. She was a quite interesting new addition to their team, and he enjoyed playing on the team with her. He gave her a slight hand wave and nodded at Logan. He knew the man tolerated his existence, but he still felt this sort of hidden hatred. Murphy always tried to be pleasant and likable, but those didn't seem to be assets that Logan looked for in a friend.

"Mornin Blake, morning Aisling."He greeted the newest arrival. He was definitely not surprised that Willie hadn't shown up yet. The bumbling idiot was probably still drunk. He looked at Aisling and Blake for a moment, then turned to Logan. He knew Logan was the kind of guy to "sleep around" himself, and he wondered if he had tried anything with the two women before him. He stood there silent, not really knowing what to say to the group.

A loud belch escaped his lips as he continued steering his way towards the pitch. The empty 40oz rolled off of his fingertips, and fell to the ground below. Whatever, he thought. He took the roach in his other hand, and took one last drag before flicking it out to the side. This was his usual routine before practice, some smoke, and a little bit of drink, and he was ready to play. He had to if he wanted to play his best. It was sad that, that was what brought out his inner beast, but at the same time, lots of fun.

Even though he had one hell of a migraine from the night before, he could feel the pressure in his head smooth out, once his body started to reabsorb the toxins. H ewas super ecstatic today despite how he felt, for today he would get to spend it with the two loveliest women known to Quidditch. Blake, and Aisling. He couldn't help but love both of them, they were indeed his teammates...and his daily intake of eye candy.

He flew over into the Pitch after finally making it there just a few minutes late. "Mornin Boyou," he said to his best friend. He hopped off his broom and let it fall to the ground beside him. He turned to look over at the only thing that would be keeping him sane today, the girls. He gave them a small wave, and a friendly wink to both of them. To get some extra points he walked over to Blake, and instantly gave her a big bear hug, not knowing whether or not she was ready for it. "Good Mornin' Ladies." He released her gently, and opened his arms wide for Aisling. "Your turn," he said to the beautiful blonde, with an amusing grin on his face.

Blake watched as Aisling and Willie made their way onto the pitch, looking about as well off as the rest of them really. Actually, Murphy seemed to be the only person that was functioning rather well at the moment. The rest of them either looked exhausted or hungover or possibly even a combination of both. She nodded a greeting to Aisling quickly but didn't even really have a chance to say anything to Willie though since he wrapped her in a giant bear hug.

"Mornin' Willie," she finally said when she was actually able to breathe again. She shook her head slightly as she watched him move in on Aisling, though she did smile slightly. That one was definitely interesting... He was almost always drunk or high, sometimes both, and was a great big loveable oaf. He was definitely an entertaining guy to hang around too.

She stood there and sipped her coffee as everyone finished saying their hellos, trying to convince herself that she didn't want to go curl up in bed since she had yet to do so. She would be fine once the practice started and everything but until then she just really wanted to pass out. She noticed that they were still a few people short for the practice but this was probably the best that they were going to get that morning. The others would probably straggle in late like usual.

Murphy wrinkled his nose as he noticed Willie approach them. The man was drunk it seemed, like that was a big surprise. He really didn't see how Willie could play without falling off his broom, which would be amusing to see. If Logan wasn't the team captain there would be no way Willie would be allowed to play intoxicated. He acted like a buffoon, and reeked of booze.

As Willie hugged the girls, Murphy felt a twinge of jealousy. There was no way he would ever just up and hug the females on his team. So, Willie was kind of a gross drunk, but he used that to his advantage. Murphy never wished to be Willie, he just wished to have that confidence. He lifted his coffee to his lips and searched the pitch for other members of the team. It was always interesting to see their state of being after a long night.

Aisling watched, an amused grin on her face, as Willie flew onto the pitch in the intoxicated state that he always seemed to be in whenever she saw him. She had no idea how he managed to play as well as he did while like that and it would probably always remain a mystery to her. A yawn broke loose and she lifted a hand to cover her mouth. She had developed a friendly, joking relationship with Willie over the last few years, but there were many things about his way of life that she couldn’t wrap her head around.

“Mornin’,” She greeted as he finished hugging Blake then gave him the hug he demanded when he turned to her. As Willie wrapped her in a friendly hug, Aisling crinkled her nose then poked his chest when he let her go. “Someone needs a shower.” She said, placing her hands on her hips, a small smile on her face. She had no idea if he actually had forgone a shower or if it was just the smell of whatever he’d been smoking, but she wasn’t a fan.

A grin bellished on Willie's face as Aisling said he needed a shower. "Sure thing, how boot ye join me fer one after practice?" he asked her playfully as he casually walked towards Logan. Things had never gotten mroe than friendly between them, which was both good and bad. Sure, he'd screw her a good one, but at the same time knew it would only cost him their friendship in the end, and he liked being friends with her.

Once he was right behind his good friend, he gave him a gentle punch on the shoulder. "Hey Boyou." Wille then hopped back on his broom and kicked off into the air. He flew up a couple yards and looked down below at his teammates. "So are we gonna practice or what?" He slapped his baby beer belly, and smiled at the two lovely women below him. Me didn' wake up fer nothin."
